Ad Blocking Regardless of what Web Browser We Use - 10% OFF

We can block an ads that appear while we are browsing the internet using Firefox Add-ons such as AdBlock Plus. But, what if we use another web browser such as Internet Explorer, Opera or Google Chrome, etc?

We can block the emergence of ad manually by transferring all requests to the ad server to our own computer (localhost). To do that, we need to edit the “hosts file” which is located in the folder “C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc”. Simply right click the file and select Open With Notepad to edit it.

The hosts file is a simple list of hostnames and their corresponding IP addresses, which your computer looks at every time you try and contact a previously unknown hostname. If it finds an entry for the computer you’re trying to reach, it sets the IP address for that computer to be whatever’s in the hosts file.

For example, to switch the request to the ad server ad.about.com, we add a code like this to the hosts file:

127.0.0.1 ad.about.com

IP Address 127.0.0.1 refer to localhost, or the computer we currently use. With this setting, each time the web page try to display an ads from ad.about.com, it’ll found nothing to display.

A complete list of the ad server address could be found in here. Just copy and paste those adserver list into your hosts file, and you are ready to go.
