Speed Up Your Internet Connection

By default, Microsoft Windows XP/2003 and Vista limiting total amount of internet bandwidth used, and reserve 20% bandwidth as backup. Using the following tips, we can override this rule, force Windows to use all the internet bandwidth without any limitation, and speed up our internet connection.

- Go to the Run menu (Windows + R) and type gpedit.msc to open the application Group Policy Object Editor.
- On the left panel, under Local Computer Policy tree, go to Computer Configuration>> Administrative Templates>> Network>> QoS Packet Scheduler options.
- On the right panel double click Limit Reservable Bandwidth options.
- In the properties window that appears, change the option to Enabled, enter the value 0 in the Bandwidth limit option, and click OK button.
When we changed the properties Limit reservable bandwidth value into 0, Windows will use 100% of the bandwidth of Internet connection without any reservable bandwidth anymore.
As the end result, our internet connection now 20% faster than before.
Use Intelinet Internet Security Suite to get fix and remove all errors from your computer, increasing startup speed by up to 200%!

Hi Brian, Group Policy Object Editor should be available on NT base system like Win 2000/XP/Vista, but not on Win 9x/Me. To get access to Group Policy, you also need administrator privilege.

This is a load of old cock.
Just remove the QoS packet scheduler it does bugger all and you obviously don’t understand it.

This tip is unfortunately useless. Windows does not actually reserve any bandwidth in a manner that would slow your internet-connected applications. It’s a long-debunked tip.

This is a MYTH! Please stop perpetuating it.

Brain and Poer, it is also worth mentioning that many tools such as gpedit.msc, are not available in XP Home Edition. You will need XP Pro to access them… something that they don’t tell you missed out on but you find out later that you did.

This is a total myth, generally spread by people who don’t understand QoS. People need to stop pushing this idea that does nothing.
